PROJECT TITLE: SPIRITUAL SOOTHING SPACE

LEE NING

Lee Ning likes to think of herself as a Malaysian based atypical interior architect with a bachelor’s degree from Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. Her works stem from the core value of fostering trustful public spaces through design. She stands firm in her belief that ‘Public spaces are spaces of celebration’, hence the whimsical design elements in her works. Undeniability and playfulness is evident throughout her works but these bold and whimsical designs are far more than just serving for the ‘tyranny of the eye’. Beneath the aesthetically artistic style, it underlies a rational and deliberate planning with the intention of building social trust. Uncovering the hidden psychological impact of architectural design, her designs tend to attract urban crowds and influence crowd behaviour, all with the goal of encouraging virtuous citizens to be helpful, respectful and trustful toward each other. Albeit peculiar and unconventional, such design style is led by curviness meandering through space.
