“Ever since I was young, I loved being in nature and I believe that human beings and nature should live in harmony. As humans, we obtain a lot of resources from the environment, to survive and to live better. However, I realized that the environment has become more polluted as the years go by, which affects our physical health, adding to the fact that as technology has evolved, we have also exercised less. This was the reason why I designed “Mannoyaku”.”

“After volunteering at a drug rehab home, I realized how false the misconceptions of drug addicts were. I was touched by their stories and growth. With this came inspiration to design a mindful space for them to heal beyond the physical and mental state. A space of resurgence.”

“I grew up shifting a lot between various countries and regions, and each of them has their traditions and the ways of the things they do. Upon observing and studying, you would eventually see that all the things they apply in their daily lives benefits and adapts to the natural living conditions around them, which prompted me to realize that the answer for the issues of today lies in the past. Hence, "Vernacular Indigenous Ecosystem" came into mind.”

“I always wonder what depression is, or am I going through depression without realizing it? Sadness? Stress? Suicide? “Idenality” is a space to help people with depression, by helping them to discover the meaning of life in a stress relieving environment, where they can emerge out from their darkest moments in life.”

“One day, will I stop wondering too?” I’m used to being trapped in a work routine that hardly varies from day to day: from getting up, going to class, sketching on paper, brain-storming for ideas, working on the laptop, eat, sleep, repeat. Hardly anything unexpected happens anymore. Sometimes, it had me wonder, “what are we really missing out on when we get so caught up in this world?” I hope the Wonder Creative Hub will later aspire people to never stop wondering, to never stop exploring, and to never stop sharing creative ideas, even when they are caught up with their busy routines.”

“Fishing has always been a part of my life since a very young age. During all those years I've seen the positive and negative side of it on my small island. I have also witnessed the direct and indirect effect of human activities on the natural environment. This in mind, I have slowly, along those years, developed a consciousness for our actions on the environment. I profoundly think that fishing can be re-imagined into a more sustainable practice. Fishing can also help bond people from different generation together.”

"Recently, I have discovered the value and beauty of Malaysian fashion. However, the Malaysian youths nowadays are more interested in the western culture, including it’s fashion. While observing Malaysia’s rich culture, I believe that the local fashion industry do deserve more attention. Therefore, “The Loom” was created to cultivate youngsters to become social influencers who promote this industry that is in the brink of extinction.""

“When I was young, sports was the top priority in my mind. It has always been imbedded in me that living a healthy lifestyle is important for every human being. To me, no matter how good someone thinks their lifestyles are, without thinking of health it is almost as good as nothing. That was what motivated me to design a space where people can live healthily.”

“ever since I was young, I had been breathing in wood dust and playing with tools and machines. It’s safe to say that woodworking has been a big part of my life. But I was always wondering, “Why can’t a carpentry workshop look better and cleaner? Why does woodworking have to always involve so much machinery, when hand tools give more self-satisfaction?”

“I have lived with anxiety from when I can remember, but not to the extent that this monster grew from my teens onwards. I’ve always felt different from the others even at a young age. The anxiety and pain stopped when I stepped into nature, spending my day there, listening to the leaves swishing and whistling in the breeze, mixed with the sound of the waves, and also of birds chirping. Hence, an idea came to my mind, “what if I can design a space for everyone to relax while enjoying nature at the same time?” Anxiety is in us all. When the anxiety holds you hostage unnecessarily and brings you to your knees, that is when you need your space to get out of that never-ending abyss”

“I remember there was one time when I posted a picture of a dessert that was filled in a traditional Chinese tea cup, and a person came to me and asked, "why don’t you put it in a glass cup? It’s more high class..." But how would you define ‘high class’ in cultural terms? Is ‘high class’ applicable in culture? Don't let the questioning of others be the reason our own culture gets degraded.”

“The price of human greed is being paid by poor, innocent animals. Some animal species are getting depleted at an alarming rate. If the present state of affairs is allowed to continue, the next generation will not get to see many of the beautiful animals, and damage the food chain. We are, at this point, taking animals for granted. Animals are a part of the planet and if animals were to go extinct, humans will too, sooner or later, which is why I am trying to raise awareness and knowledge through the proposed space design.”

“I first asked myself, “How does my dad work in the same old uninspiring space for years and years?” I believe workplaces should be an imaginative space that caters to inspire, not restricted to a boxy table and dull chair. And this motivated my “Innovator’s Workaday”.”

“I have always loved children and I believe that they are our future. Therefore, I think that preparing them with the basics of living in a society is essential, but I thought, why not make it playful as well? Thus, "Cognitive Moral Playground".”

“Skin care has always been a passion of mine, but I’m very particular of the ingredients that are put inside the products that I use. I believe people should not be worried about what they put on their faces and they should feel confident with their bare skins.”

Natacia Marcella

“I keep wondering why some people work so hard that they ignore their own health. I believe that rest is supposed to be as important as working hard. Everyone needs some time and a place to go, where they can get away from their busy working schedules to refresh their minds and bodies. By having a healthy balance of work and rest, it will add tremendous value, energy, purpose and creativity to the goals that we would like to achieve.”

“Electronic music has always been a part of me. There's no day that I do not listen to or play music, as it helps me in improving my everyday life. '125bpm' is a platform to help individuals to escape from their hectic life and relax from the negative effects of noise (unwanted sound) in the city by using different electronic music genres (ordered sound).”

“While I was looking for a topic for my project, I tried to search for the problems that are important but are not being taken seriously in the society. I found out that we live in a world where the genders are far from equal, which serves to harm both men and women alike. There are gender discrimination and gender inequality everywhere, especially in workplaces. That is why I created a space where women could be in a safe environment, free from discrimination.”
